The narrative of youth as perpetrators of violence in conflicts is misguided, leading to their exclusion from decision-making platforms and peace processes, exacerbating intergenerational gaps. To address this, the Working Group of the Coalition for Youth-Peace-Security in Central Africa (WG-CJPAC) was formed in October 2022 by ECCAS and UNOCA. Its mission is to empower youth-led Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), align actions with UNSCR2250 (2015) and the Continental Framework for Youth, Peace, and Security, and promote meaningful youth participation in peace and security efforts in Central Africa.
